Pierre and François. ( The former was a painter and the latter a collectionist and diplomat in Rome especially for Napoleon ) , and François-Frédéric Lemot a sculptor who was awarded grand prix de Rome in 1790 by the French Academy of Arts. He also became one of Napoleon's Empire Barons. They were all forced to flee Italy because of anti republican Riots in Rome. They eventually arrived here on the banks of the river Sevre in a little town named Clisson. This exceptional site impressed them so much tat the Cacault brothers opened here a museum gathering Francois's collections. Francois Cacault owned the second French private Art collection at that time. Once the two brothers deceased and the collection purchased by Nantes Fine Arts Museum, François-Frédéric Lemot will achieve their work little by little, creating thus his personal masterpiece his own "Tivoli" in la Garenne Lemot park. From that time onwards, Clisson has been having a touch from abroad,. Beside the local granite and the rounded traditional towers cou
ld be seen the red tone of the tiles and bricks. What a surprise!. Indeed the villas, shady umbrella pine gardens, rustic maisonettes, churches, temples, ancient statues and other follies are reminiscent of Tuscan or Roman landscapes.
